Holiday fun at St John's

Posted by Amy Pate on Aug 28, 08 10:37 AM in Community

st-johns-holiday-club1-27-.jpgMore than 100 children flocked to a holiday club at St John's Church in Egham this week.

The Champions Challenge club saw children aged between five and 11 years old playing games, playing instruments and creating crafts at the church in Church Road from Tuesday to Friday.

Organiser Alison Berry said: "Think children's television combined with a church and you have the atmosphere of the holiday club.

"The children absolutely loved it - they were buzzing.

"When one of the children who had come to the club from a beach holiday and said that the club had been the best part of their summer, we knew we were getting something right."

The club, which has been running for three years and was free for children to attend, was booked up weeks in advance.

Alison said: "We're building up a great reputation - we've had children coming back three years in a row and there's a really good mix of children of church families and children from the area.

"It's about the church reaching out into the community, so we're really pleased it's been so popular."

We'd like to hear from you.

I think this report is misleading as it doesn't give credit to all of those who organised this wonderful event - the article makes it look like Alison Berry was the only organiser which is totally untrue - I do think perhaps a thought for all the other people, especially who gave up their time voluntarily and took time off from their jobs to do this, should be given a word of thanks
