Magna Carta's best GCSEs ever
Teachers and pupils at Magna Carta School are celebrating after receiving the best GCSE results in the school's history.
Sixty percent of students achieved five or more GCSE's between A* and C grades - compared with 54% last year and 21% of the overall results were either A or A*.
Headteacher Tim Smith attributed the results to a new study regime - the school banned study leave this year and instead ran revision lessons up until the exams. They also introduced breakfast revision sessions on the morning of the exams.
Mr Smith said: "We are ecstatic about the results - they are the best in the history of the school. It's absolutely fantastic.
"The morning warm up sessions have been great - the students were all willing conscripts and found them very useful.
"Everyone has worked really hard - parents, pupils and teachers, and we're thrilled it has paid off."
