Supermarket helps kids grow
Thorpe Lea Primary School in Egham got a boost to its health education when Sainsbury delivered a free kit to allow pupils to grow their own food.
The kit, delivered by store manager of the Staines branch,Peter Shaw, on Wednesday last week (1) includes gardening equipment such as trowels and watering cans.
The supermarket chain said the kits are being given to selected schools as part of Sainsbury's Active Kids Get Cooking scheme to help schoolchildren develop cooking skills.
Thorpe Lea head teacher Sarah Tarrant, said: "Free materials like these are invaluable to help use educate children about where food comes from and to teach them basic cooking skills, not to mention the importance of healthy eating.
"We can't wait to incorporate the kit into the children's lessons and after-school activities."
