Judge-Brian-Barker_0460.jpgStrode's College's annual Prize-giving ceremony takes place at 7.30pm on Thursday 2nd April in Coopers' Hall.

The Guest of Honour will be HH Judge Brian Barker QC, Master of the Worshipful Company of Coopers.

He is also The Common Serjeant of London, an office created in 1319 with responsibilities as the legal advisor to the Court of Common Council (the local governing authority for the City and Corporation of London).

Strode's College Dance Department performed Eclectic Fusion 2 at the Jubilee International High School Theatre on March 18 and 19.

The 43 Dance students entertained with a variety of Jazz, Ballet and Tap pieces along with extracts from "The Boyfriend" by Sandy Wilson and "Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens" by Bill Russell and Janet Hood.

The performances are part of examination preparation and assessment for students on the A/S Level Dance, Exploring Dance and Btec National Award in Performing Arts (Dance) courses.

Savvy students mixed work and play by organising a fun beach party for charity.

The leisure studies students from Strodes College, Egham, were asked to plan, organise and carry out an event as part of their coursework.

They chose to hold their beach party at Banks bar in Egham High Street, on Sunday, March 8, with funds going to hospice care charity, CHASE.

The Egham Garden and Allotments Association will hold its spring show on Thursday, April 9, at the Manor Farm Day Centre, Manor Farm Lane, Egham, from 7.30pm.

Teenage vandals cop police warnings

Police officers have issued final reprimands to three teenagers thought to be responsible for recent incidents of graffiti in Egham Hythe.

An increase in graffiti had occured across the Pooley Green area over the past three weeks and the safer neighbourhood team says it will continue to monitor the situation.

Early years provider, The Gap Club based at Englefield Green Infant School, will pick up an achievement award from Surrey County Council on Friday March 13, at The Manor House Hotel, Guildford.

The club, which provides after school and holiday care and activities, is among 10 early years providers in the county whose high standards are being recognised.

Each will receive certificates under the county council's Early Years Quality Assurance scheme, which helps early years providers meet Ofsted and Early Years Foundation Stage's requirements for continual improvement.

Students from ACS Egham International School did their bit to support Red Nose Day by visiting a retirement home on Monday (9).

The 36 pupils, aged from eight to nine went to the Sunrise Senior Living home in Virginia Water, where they chatted to clients and helped serve refreshments before a performance from the ACS choir.

Lower school students at ACS Egham have raised money for Red Nose Day for the past six years but this year also wanted to give something back to their own community.

Celeb shop opens in town

A clothes shop used by singer Amy Winehouse, opened a branch in Egham High Street last week.

Charlies specialises in women's clothing, with brands such as Miss Sixty, Juicy Couture and other high street names, as well as stocking one-off dresses.

An existing Charlies in Camden, North London, has been frequented by celebrities including Winehouse and featured in OK and Heat magazines.

Drivers shaken not hurt

Two drivers were left shaken but unhurt after a lorry and car were in collision on Tuesday March 3 on the Egham bypass at about 12.25pm.

Firefighters removed the vehicles from the road, which had be closed briefly after the accident.

Acclaimed concert pianist, Peter Katin, will perform at the Egham & District Music Club's celebrity concert on Saturday, March 21, at the United Church of Egham, High Street, at 7.30pm.

Mr Katin, now a renowned pianist and tutor, was accepted into the Royal Academy of Music as a 12-year-old, four years earlier than normal entrants and became known for his Chopin recitals. He will be playing works by Haydn, Schumann, Chopin, Grieg and Debussy.
