April 2009 Archives
The Department of Laws at Strodes College will be holding its annual 'Many Questions' event at the Literary Institute, High Street, Egham, on Friday 24th April 2009 at 2pm.
This educational event, for Law, Politics, and Citizenship, students, involves Baroness Sharpe of Guildford (Liberal Democrats), Paul Greenwood (Labour) and Philip Hammond MP (Conservative). Chairing the event will be Dr Peter Jepson (Head of the Department of Laws).
Competing in the style of TV's The Apprentice, 10 Runnymede Council staff are on a mission to fundraise in a teamworthy spirit that would surprise Sir Alan Sugar.
Not for them is the cry of why shouldn't I fire you? Rather, it is the team shout of "how do we inspire you" in their 14 challenges to raise £3,000, at least, in the month of April.
Already, the Runnymede April Fools have clocked four challenges to test their own stamina and creativity, as well as the wallets and purses of colleagues.
A clock which was installed upside-down in Egham High Street a decade ago may finally be turned the right way up.
The clock, presented to the town of Egham by the Egham Gardens & Allotments Association to celebrate it's 50th anniversary, was originally placed on the side of Clarke Brothers Butchers in the High Street in 1991.
More than 3,500 books, CDs and Videos will be for sale at the United Church of Egham, in High Street, next weekend.
The sale will run on Friday April 17 between 6.30pm and 9pm and then on Saturday April 18 from 8.30am to 12.30pm.
Entry is free, and all proceeds will be split between church funds and good causes.

Children are invited to take part in a tree planting morning at Hythe Park in Rowan Avenue, Egham on Friday April 17.
The planting will take place between 10am and 12noon and is for five to 13-year-olds.
Anyone taking part should wear outdoor clothing, and meet by the small play area.
