ACS Egham International School has received an award to recognise the commitment to offering nutritious and healthy food choices.

The 'The Eat Out Eat Well' Award is part of a scheme currently being trialled by Surrey County Council Trading Standards which rewards caterers throughout the county who make it easy for their customers to make healthy eating options, including schools.

The award has three levels - bronze silver and gold and ACS Egham is one of only five establishments, out of forty inspected, that has been awarded the gold level award.

To achieve the award the schools were assessed against certain criteria that are centred on the principles of a healthy balanced diet, as well as the marketing and promotion of healthier options.

Angry residents packed a church hall to discuss controversial plans to barricade a road to stop speeding motorists.

More than 70 residents filled St Paul's Church Hall, Egham Hythe, to hear more about plans by Surrey County Council to put a barrier in St Paul's Road to prevent it being used as a 'rat run' by speeding motorists, getting from Chertsey Lane to Thorpe Road and vice versa.

The feisty meeting, chaired by borough ward councillor, Gill Warner, involved residents both in favour of the barrier, many from St Paul's Road and the Wapshott and Bowes Road estate. And also numerous residents vehemently opposed to the proposals.
